Ashworth Square Co-operative is accepting applications for a permanent part-time Bookkeeper/ Accountant to handle the general bookkeeping and accounting functions of our 152-unit housing co-op complex in Mississauga, Ontario.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • The position requires a general accounting background with a strong working knowledge of accounting processes.
  • Self-starter, conveys professionalism, and who exhibits strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain accounting records, calculate and prepare payroll, tax and other bills, balance multiple accounts by reconciling entries, balance general ledger and reconcile bank statements and prepare reports.
  • Work co-operatively within a team-based environment. This position reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the bookkeeping/accounting duties of the Co-operative.
  • The successful candidate must provide us with a clear criminal record check.

The successful applicant will be: 

  • Experienced in the non-profit housing sector, preferably 3+ years
  • Available 1-2 days per week, for a total of 3-8 hours per week dependent on workload
  • Available to attend after-hours meetings as required
