Guise Street Housing Co-operative is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to manage a 50 Unit Federal Housing Co-operative Apartment Building.

A successful candidate will be responsible for various duties including but not limited to the following:

Administrative Responsibilities

  • General office administration and record keeping
  • Receive and respond to all corporate correspondence in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate membership records, maintenance and corporate records in accordance with the Act, internal By-laws, CMHC and other governing legislation
  • Co-ordinate requested and required repairs with maintenance staff, contractors and members

Financial Responsibilities

  • Maintain the necessary books and records as required by the Act, the Board, the Auditor, CMHC, and the other appropriate Government requirements in tandem with offsite bookkeeper
  • Maintain Corporate bank accounts, supervise the co-operate investment portfolio, issue financial statements as required by the Board of Directors
  • Handle all receivables and payables
  • Administration of the FCHI-2 Rental assistance program
  • Preparation of the annual budget

Responsibilities to the Board of Directors

  • Attend all Board of Director and General Membership Meetings
  • Prepare agendas for the Board of Directors and General Membership Meetings and record minutes of meeting; as required
  • Prepare RFQ and obtain quotes for various projects as directed by the Board of Directors

Qualifications Required for a successful candidate:

  • Knowledgeable of Co-operative Housing or Non Profit Housing administration
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a high paced demanding environment and prioritize multiple ongoing tasks
  • Knowledge of NewViews accounting program
  • Working knowledge of the Co-operative Corporations Act, Co-op By-laws, FCHI-2 Rental Assistance program and other Municipal, Provincial and Federal legislation that applies to property management
  • Strong written and oral skills to effectively communicate with a diverse client base
  • Personal transportation is recommended

Hours of Work and Salary

  • 16 to 24 hours per week
  • Occasional evening work is required for meeting attendance
  • Salary to commensurate with experience
