2022 Diversity Scholarship Award Winners
Jean Melbye Diversity Scholarship Award
Alexis Dukelow-Hunt from Village Green Co-op, Brampton will be attending Humber College and will be entering her first year in Early Childhood Education. For the past 5 years, she has been an active volunteer at her co-op. From seasonal parties, for the kids, and helping members in need access to the co-op’s food bank, and clothing drive. As you can imagine during the pandemic there was a great need, and these supports were open to all members. She is also engaged outside of her co-op in community events.
Zahra Wehbi from Lom Nava Co-op, Mississauga is entering her second year at the University of Toronto – St. George Campus and is pursuing a degree in the arts and science program. She has been actively involved in her faith-based organizations promoting culture and diversity through programs and other community events.

Carol MacEachern Diversity Scholarship Award
Jonique Wilson from Britannia Glen Co-op, Mississauga will be attending the University of Ottawa to study Health Sciences. She has been involved in the Co-operative Young Leaders camp as a participant and on the youth council. As part of her co-op placement through school with four other high school students, she delivered diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging training virtually to more than 900 students and educators in the Region of Peel. She has been involved with PLASP as a teaching assistant and has engaged in other community events.
